Total Time 15 minutes
Servings 20 cookies

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all purpose flour or bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt or kosher salt (plus more for sprinkling cookies)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup butter, room temp
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla paste or extract
  • 1 bag dark or milk chocolate chips (I use Guittard 60% cocao)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees and place oven rack in center position. Place parchment paper on cooking sheet, set aside.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt.

  3. Use a mixer to blend together brown sugar, granulated sugar, and butter. When smooth, add eggs one at a time, add vanilla, mix well.

  4. Add flour mixture a bit at a time and mix until well incorporated. Fold in chocolate chips by hand.

  5. Use an ice cream scoop to spoon cookie dough onto cooking sheet. These are fairly big cookies, make sure you leave enough room between cookies. I usually bake three rows of three per batch. Sprinkle the top each cookie with sea salt.

  6. Bake for 11-12 minutes.
