We are a family that loves the beach. Whether we are vacationing on the West Coast or the East Coast we spend a lot of time with the grandkids in the sun and on the sand…
…and playing in the water…
… or flying kites…
…or dealing with the occasional wardrobe malfunction…
But after a day on the beach we more often than not end up at some version of an ice cream or shake shack, and I never indulge. Why? It certainly isn’t because of my amazing discipline lol. You see on more than one occasion I have been accused of being a food snob, and you know what I have to say about that? GUILTY. AS. CHARGED. If I am going to have a treat, it’s going to be a magnificent treat. One for the books. A mind blower. Like this Salted Caramel Ice Cream Shake with Chopped Chocolate!
When it Comes to Desserts My Motto is Go Big or Go Home!
When I want a dessert, I want one that is really worth the indulgence and this Salted Caramel Ice Cream Shake with Chopped Chocolate is so, so, so worth it! Layers of the creamiest best quality vanilla bean ice cream shake, separated by salted caramel and chopped chocolate and then topped with vanilla bean whipped cream, and then more salted caramel and more chopped chocolate. Forget the straw, just grab a spoon because this shake is so thick a straw just won’t do! Two spoons would be even better. You know you can’t devour this all by yourself…even though I admit, I did. Please don’t judge me.
The Recipe: Salted Caramel Ice Cream Shake with Chopped Chocolate!
Tips and what you will need: use the best quality Ice Cream you can find. How good the shake is depends on how good the ice cream is. I used Three Twins Madagascar Vanilla Ice Cream! You can use my homemade salted caramel sauce, or have one delivered to your door. You will need: a good quality blender. I use a Blendtec and love it. If you have always wanted a Blendtec but it wasn’t in the budget, you may wish to consider a Blendtec Total Blender Certified Refurbished. I used a ketchup bottle to drizzle caramel but you can use a spoon.

In short, this is the most amazing shake you will ever have.
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 Tablespoons sugar
- drop of vanilla paste or extract
- 1 pint of the best vanilla bean ice cream you can find
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/3 cup salted caramel sauce store bought or my homemade recipe, linked above
- 1/4 cup whipped cream
- 1/4 cup chopped chocolate
-
Place ingredients in a bowl and whisk vigorously until peaks form.
-
Chop chocolate.
-
Warm salted caramel sauce.
-
Place ice cream and whole milk in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour 1/3 of the shake into a jar, drizzle caramel sauce around the edges of jar and sprinkle with chopped chocolate.
-
Pour anther 1/3 of shake into the jar, drizzle caramel and chocolate around the edge of the jar again.
-
Pour the rest of the shake in and top with whipped cream, caramel and remaining chocolate. Serve and loosen your belt.
