The Cranberry Nut Cheese Ball:
This Cranberry Nut Cheeseball is pretty much what it sounds like, cranberries, cream cheese, white cheddar, nuts, some dried and fresh herbs, all mixed together, formed into a ball and then rolled in more nuts, cranberries and herbs.
Crackers Aren’t the Only Thing You Can Spread it on!
Of course crackers are the traditional accompaniment to a holiday cheeseball. But may I suggest something a little sweeter? Like apple slices? Or how about carrot or celery slices or even pretzels?

The Recipe: Cranberry Nut Cheese Ball
What you need: a hand mixer or stand mixer and a good knife!
An easy to make holiday appetizer
- 8 ounces good quality cream cheese
- 1 cup white cheddar cheese, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- pinch sea salt
- 1 cup dried cranberries, chopped
- 1 cup roasted pecans or walnuts, chopped
- 1/4 cup chives, sliced thinly
- apple slices, crackers, salty pretzels, celery or carrot sticks
-
Prep all ingredients as directed. Use a hand mixer to blend together cream and cheddar cheeses, garlic powder, sea salt, 1/2 a cup of cranberries and nuts, and 1/8th cup of chives until well combined. Toss together the remaining cranberries, nuts and chives and set on a clean surface
-
Form cheese mixture into a ball and roll into mixed cranberries, nuts and chives, covering the entire ball. Serve immediately or wrap and place in the fridge for later. Note: some people use plastic wrap to mold cheese into a ball. It is helpful but I just hate using plastic, so I choose to get a little messy. It's certainly up to you whether or not to use the plastic method!
