Hello! I’m Linda Spiker, owner of The Organic Kitchen. I will be leading another free Whole30 group starting on March 1st, 2023 and I would love for you to join me! (this post contains affiliate links via my affiliation with  Amazon.com)

Why Whole 30?

Quite honestly I never look or feel as good as I do when on the Whole 30 eating plan. But more importantly Whole30 has taught me how to eat in a way that is works for my body, not against it. I feel in total control of my food choices for probably the first time in my life, and I am 60!

What is Whole 30

Whole30 is an eating plan that eliminates the foods that are most likely to cause inflammation, belly distress, hormone disruption and emotional eating. In other words: sugar, alcohol, grains, dairy, legumes, soy, artificial colors, sweeteners and fillers. If you have aches and pains that are troublesome, are having a hard time losing weight, or suffer from a health condition (like skin issues, digestive ailments, seasonal allergies or fertility issues) the symptoms may be directly related to the foods you eat – even the β€œhealthy” stuff. So how do you know if (and how) these foods are affecting you?

You eliminate them for 30 days. Cut them out completely and see what happens. What usually happens is within the 30 days? Your life changes. You make the connection between what you are eating and how you feel. You make the connection between energy levels and what is happening in your gut. You sleep better. You feel better. You look better. The reason we do it for 30 days? First, science. If you have sensitivities to certain foods it takes about 30 days for your body to begin to lose the inflammation those foods cause. Also, it’s do-able. Short enough to make people feel like they can commit, and long enough to feel and and see changes. After 30 days you slowly and methodically add foods back in and see what foods cause you trouble. Then you stay away from those and enjoy the rest! At the very least you realize you aren’t helpless when it comes to how you feel. You hold the power to feel better. When you realize this, your life changes!

How You Can Prepare Now

The very first thing to do is get one or both books and read them: The newest version is Whole 30: A 30 Day Guide to Total Health and Food Freedom (affiliate link) includes a summary of the program, updates and changes, and a lot of new recipes. The older version “It Starts with Food” (affiliate link) is definitely for those of you that want to know the science behind what you are doing. It goes into great detail about each and every step of the plan. So you choose. They are both informative and will give you great education about how certain foods have an effect on body, brain and emotions. And while I will be posting Whole 30 friendly recipes every week throughout September, it would be great to have the recipes in the books too! You have just over two weeks. Get the book now so you are ready to roll on May1st!
