Everybody Loves Chocolate:
Before chocolate is sweetened, it’s actually a health food. Cocoa is rich in flavanols, a category of flavonoids that contain antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Flavanols specifically are a naturally-occurring compound found in plants that have been shown to improve blood flow and lower blood pressure.
Let’s Talk Cocoa Powder:
Of course we sweeten chocolate up to make it more palatable, and this is a dessert post, so the recipes will have sugar in them. That said if you are looking for the best dark chocolate for dessert recipes, or looking for the best cocoa powder or chocolate bars, I have some recommendations! Whole Foods makes an oorganic unsweetened cocoa powder that I have used it and love it. When it comes to sweetened cocoa I have to go with Ghiradelli Gourmet Cocoa.
So What About Chips and Bars?
I will make it short and sweet: milk chocolate chips and dark chocolate chips from Ghiradelli. My favorite chocolate bars for eating alone, Chocolove, choose your bar! Now let’s get to the recipes!
